Jennifer Hughes Scott practices primarily in the areas of employment law and workers' compensation. She represents employers in litigation matters involving federal discrimination and retaliation claims and state law claims. Ms. Scott also represents employers in actions before administrative agencies, including the Mississippi Workers' Compensation Commission and the EEOC, and in appeals of agency decisions to state court. She has represented employers during compliance audits and investigations conducted by both state and federal agencies, such as the Mississippi Department of Employment Security and the Wage and Hour Division of the United States Department of Labor. In addition, Ms. Scott assists employers with compliance issues that affect their daily business operations, counseling them about wage and hour issues, employee discipline, hiring and termination decisions, internal investigations, and accommodations. She has helped employers draft employment handbooks and policies and has assisted employers in implementing and administering their policies and procedures, termination decisions, internal investigations, and accommodations. Ms. Scott is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Mississippi. She is a member of the Labor and Employment Law section of both the American Bar Association and the Mississippi Bar and is a member of the Workers' Compensation section of the Mississippi Bar. She has been a seminar speaker on the topic of wage and hour issues.
