Biography

Thomas L. Carpenter is a shareholder attorney at Wise Carter. He comes to the firm bringing 30 years of legal litigation experience in the areas of insurance defense, labor and employment, construction, appellate advocacy, bad faith claims, and product liability. Thomas takes great interest and pride in serving his clients and is not limited to specific practice areas as he always looks for ways to better serve and meet the needs of his clients.

Thomas graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1986 and obtained his JD, magna cum laude, from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1994.  His legal career began with a clerkship with Presiding Justice Lenore Prather of the Mississippi Supreme Court. Thomas founded and has served as president of the Russell, Blass, Walker Chapter of the American Inn of Court, an organization chartered to foster judicial ethics, civility, and professionalism. Before law school, Thomas spent time serving our country in the United States Navy, setting him up for an excellent foundation of work ethic and professionalism.

A proud resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Thomas resides there with his wife. He is an active member of his community with the Jackson County Bar Association, Harrison County Bar Association, and a prior member of the Long Beach School Board of Trustees.
