Labor & Employment
Wise Carter’s labor and employment attorneys serve clients in both employment litigation and corporate compliance matters. Our services in corporate compliance help avoid employment decisions and situations that lead the client to costly litigation.

Our corporate compliance practice includes counseling to assist employers in day-to-day employment decisions such as terminations, layoffs, hiring, drug and alcohol testing, accommodations, discipline, leave, pay, overtime pay, and background checks. We also provide in-house training for managers and employees regarding all aspects of employment law and the policies and practices of the employer. Drafting and providing advice regarding employment contracts, policies, procedures, handbooks, separation agreements, independent contractor service agreements and union contracts is part of our regular practice. We routinely assist with harassment and discrimination investigations, evaluating employees for overtime and minimum wage exemptions, union negotiations and provide assistance in all aspects of employment law.

Wise Carter attorneys also have experience handling employment litigation matters before both state and federal trial and appellate courts, the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission, the United States Department of Labor, and the Mississippi Employment Security Commission. Our employment litigation practice reaches virtually all aspects of employment law, including but not limited to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Equal Pay Act, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Employee Polygraph Protection Act, the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, the Rehabilitation Act, contract disputes, at-will employment issues, unemployment benefits and whistleblower protection statutes.
