Wise
Carter Child & Caraway is committed to excellence. We actively
recruit second year law students with outstanding academic
credentials,
strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated leadership abilities
for our summer associate program. Extracurricular activities
such as Law Review, Law Journal or Moot Court are recognized
and included
as factors in the selection process. In
order to maintain its high standard of legal services, the firm
hires only those associates that it believes are capable of becoming
members. Wise Carter traditionally has promoted individuals to
membership primarily from within and after substantial association
with the firm. Although most new associates hired each year are
recruited from instate schools and have worked at the firm as
summer associates, the firm welcomes inquiries from out-of-state
students,
as well as lateral applicants.
The firm
hires only associate candidates with top qualifications. The firm's
54 attorneys are graduates of seventeen different law schools, including
Harvard, Columbia, Virginia, Vanderbilt, George Washington, Washington
and Lee, Emory, Southern Methodist, Loyola (Chicago), Loyola (New
Orleans), Cumberland, Mississippi College, and the Universities
of Mississippi, Virginia, Florida, Denver and Houston. In addition,
Wise Carter maintains a staff of professional legal assistants to
support the firm's attorneys in their practices.
Our
summer associate program is a central part of the firm's hiring
process. This program provides second year, and some first year,
law students an inside view of the firm, as well as the opportunity
to gain practical knowledge and experience in all facets of the
law. Each summer associate will have a Wise Carter mentor available
for consultation as needed. Social activities are planned throughout
the summer. These activities are not only fun and entertaining,
but they enable the summer associates to get to know the people
that make up the firm.
Wise Carter is
an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis
of race, color, sex, religion, age, national origin, handicap, disability,
veteran status or other basis of discrimination made unlawful by
applicable federal or state law.
